The Challenge
The trust faced critical bed shortages during winter pressures and needed additional ward capacity urgently. Traditional construction would have taken 18+ months, which was unacceptable given patient safety concerns.
Our Solution
Vector Space Modular designed and manufactured a complete 40-bed ward extension off-site while simultaneously preparing the hospital grounds. The building was delivered in modules and assembled over a single weekend to minimise disruption to hospital operations.
The Results
The ward was operational within 16 weeks of contract signing — 80% faster than traditional construction. The facility has received excellent feedback from staff and patients, with infection control rates matching the main hospital building.
