The client faced an urgent capacity crisis as their existing data centre reached maximum utilisation, with new enterprise clients requiring guaranteed uptime and enhanced security. Traditional construction would take 12-18 months, risking significant revenue loss and potential client defection. The site in Harrogate had limited space and required a solution that could be delivered quickly whilst maintaining the highest standards of power redundancy, cooling systems, and physical security essential for mission-critical operations.
Our Solution
Vector Space Modular designed and manufactured a cutting-edge modular data centre comprising multiple interconnected modules with integrated power distribution, advanced cooling systems, and comprehensive fire suppression.
Our off-site construction approach enabled simultaneous ground preparation and module fabrication, incorporating N+1 power redundancy, precision air conditioning, and Tier 3 specifications throughout. The modular design included dedicated server halls, network operations centre, and secure entry systems, all delivered with minimal disruption to existing operations.
The Results
The project delivered a 320% increase in server capacity whilst achieving 99.99% uptime targets and PUE efficiency of 1.4. The client secured three major new enterprise contracts worth £2.1 million annually within six months of completion. Energy consumption per rack decreased by 28% compared to their legacy facility, and the modular design provides seamless expansion capability for an additional 200 racks when required.
